The grapes for our vineyard-selected Furmint come from the Hatalos vineyard, the largest contiguous area of our family estate. The grapes are well-selected, hand-picked, gently pressed, then aged for at least 8 months in Hungarian oak barrels.
It goes well with roasts, poultry and fish dishes and also mature cheeses.
To preserve the value of the high quality grapes conventional methods are used in the production of this wine. Harvest takes place in two phases. The harvest for the dry wine is from early to mid-October, with only 1 or 2 grape clusters left on the vines long enough to develop the “noble rot” mould by the second phase in November for the late harvest and „Tokaj” wines. For the dry wines after crushing and destemming the berries are gently pressed, then the juice is settled. 225 liter oak barrels are used for the fermentation process. After fermentation battonage is applied. The single vineyard wines are aged for 6-8 months in oak barrels.
