Heumann Lagona, 2017

’Lagona’ is the Latin word for ’jug’. The idea behind this name is to take the jug, go to the barrel and fill it with wine. The name was chosen to reflect the fact that this wine can be drunk on many different occasions, including when there is no special occasion. However, it’s worth pointing out that despite being offered at a very reasonable price Lagona regularly achieves high scores at prestigious international tastings.
It is usually based on Merlot with the addition of some Kékfrankos, Cabernet Sauvignon and in 2018 Syrah. Thanks to Merlot the wine is drinkable quite early but the other grape varieties ensure that it still has a good ageing potential. Kékfrankos adds elegance to the blend.

Lagona pairs well with a variety of dishes, i.e. pasta/pizza, pork and veal but can also stand up to top quality beef and lamb. To be served at 16-17 ˚C.
