Kristian Kielmayer Dip WSET (Monday, 16th May)
15:00 – 15:45 | Wines of Hungary stand @Hall 11, D20 | language: English
Everywhere in the world premium quality wines are produced with utmost care. But have you ever heard of a wine that is made from berries picked one by one? What’s more, pickers have to return to the same vine several times during an extended harvest period. The exclusivity of the most expensive wine to produce doesn’t derive from some cutting edge technology but from its labour-intensive production and the meteorological risks involved. Aszú making in Tokaj can look back on a tradition of 450 years. Tokaj aszú is characterised by its unique natural qualities and winemaking method; it is also associated with the world’s first protected designation of origin system. At this tutored tasting of six top-notch aszús Kristian Kielmayer will present a comprehensive view of this truly unique wine category.

About Mr. Kristian Kielmayer: Kristian holds degrees in economics, winemaking and holds a diploma in wine and spirits from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in London as well as the title Weinakademiker. He is an independent consultant; his main areas of expertise are wine communication, education, and sensory evaluation. He is also a lecturer at wine schools throughout Europe. He regularly judges at various international wine and spirit competitions, he is also a member of the National Wine Expert Committee.
