Gizella Winery

The Tokaj wine region – being a World Heritage Site since 2002 – is one of the most multi-diversified volcanic soil based wine-growing areas. Founded by the grandparents of the present owner, the Gizella Cellar is headquartered in the city of Tokaj. Gizella is engaged in producing wines from 11 different vineyards in the region, all of them featuring exceptional conditions for wine making and offering an exciting challenge of bottling the harvest each year. Gizella Winery makes single vineyard selections and natural dessert wines in limited quantities. By exploiting the unique characteristics of the single vineyard sites, all of the wines have distinctive attributes which reflect the outstandingly complex terroir. One of the winery’s highlighted projects is to reconstruct and promote a highly regarded vineyard in Tokaj called Szil-völgy. Written records first mentioned this site in 1612 and it has been classified as a first class vineyard ever since.
