The 90 ha Nagygombos Winery is located in the a Mátra Wine Region, near Nagygombos, Hungary. The chief winemaker is a young lady, Anna Barta. The moderate climate of the region facilitates a slow and balanced ripening process which results in grapes that are perfect for producing wines brimming with fruit and zesty acidity both prerequisites for great rosés. The winery’s vineyards form one unbroken piece of land and are cultivated in an environmentally friendly way. In the cellar the goal is to produce wines with minimal intervention, respecting and assisting natural processes and never hurry them.
Belonging to the basic line, ‘Játékos’ is a blend where balance and complexity is achieved through careful blending of its component varieties. ’Renitens’ Rosé showcases the elegance of the Kékfrankos variety. ’Illatos’ is a white blend expressing the fruit driven and easygoing character of the Mátra wine region and the same applies to its red sibling, the ’Könnyed Vörös’. The premium line has been named after the winemaker: Barta Anna. Gamay Noir Rosé is a sophisticated wine where the fruit aromas are complemented by extra layers deriving from discreet barrel ageing. ’Három Hordó’ (Three Barrels) as the name suggests is a blend of three barrels. The three components, kékfrankos, cabernet franc and zweigelt spent a year or so in large used barrels so that the oak wouldn’t mask the fruity character typical of the terroir.
