Bodrog Borműhely

The estate is located a few kilometres from the town of Tokaj, in Bodrogkisfalud. János Hajdu was born and raised here and his family has been growing grapes and crafting wines for generations, so there was never any question that he would get involved in this line of business. Krisztián Farkas is coming from the capital and his professional life has always been dominated by the wine business, through top gastronomy, as a sommelier and later as a wine merchant. Based on their shared passion and friendship, they started to build a joint estate after years of studying oenology at university. In 2007, they started a „garage winery” with a 1 ha vineyard, which is constantly evolving and expanding. After more than 10 years of work they built a new estate center, and with 7.5 ha of their own vineyards they produce 15-30.000 bottles of premium wines today. From viticulture to winemaking, most work is done by them personally and with special care. Since 2016, the estate has been steadily transitioning to organic farming to produce more expressive wines. The status of their operation is currently „reapproved organic wine producer” certified by Biokontroll (HU-ÖKO-01).
